Tennis Teams Competing at USTA/ITA Regionals

Events Taking Place at Seperate Locations in Upstate New York



New York University's men's and women's tennis teams are competing at the 2015 Unted States Tennis Association (USTA)/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Northeast Regional Championships from Friday-Monday, September 25-28.

The men's team, coming off of an 11-11 record at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Invitational, have already begun competing in the competition hosted by Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. So far this season, the Violets have been led by junior Umberto Setter and freshman Benedict Teoh. Setter is ranked thrid in the singles draw this weekend while Teoh is ranked ninth. Additionally, the two players are competing together in the doubles draw and are ranked sixth.

The women's team is most recently coming off of an impressive 34-12 record at the Vassar College Invitational. The squad will be competing at William Smith and Hobart Colleges in Geneva, NY, and begin play on Saturday. Leading the way for the Violets has been senior Carmen Lai, who is coming off a 6-0 showing at Vassar and is ranked third in this weekend's singles draw. The Hong Kong native is also competing in the doubles draw, and is ranked third, along with junior Laila El Dessouki.
