Men's Basketball Topped by Emory on the Road

Tana Scores a Career-High 31 Points for Violets

Tana poured in a career-best 31 points in the loss at Emory.

The New York University men's basketball team fell on the road 86-77 to Emory University in Atlanta, GA, on Friday night, February 21.

The Violets (15-8, 5-7 University Athletic Association) were able to come within four points of the Eagles (16-7, 8-4 UAA) with 5:10 remaining, but were unable to continue their comeback attempt.

Despite the loss, senior co-captain guard Ryan Tana registered one of the best performances of his career. The Belmont, CA, native dropped in a career-best 31 points, along with six assists, five rebounds, and three steals. In addition, Tana shot six-of-eight from long range and was a perfect three-of-three from the foul line.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore forward Evan Kupferberg scored 15 points, along with six rebounds and a block.

- Sophomore center Costis Gontikas chipped in 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and a block.

- Sophomore forward Patrick Burns had a good all-around performance. He notched seven points, five rebounds, two blocks, and an assist.

The Violets will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, February 23, when they travel to Rochester, NY, for a 12:00 pm tip with the University of Rochester.
