Men's Tennis Falls at #22 Skidmore

NYU Loses 6-3 in Battle Against Nationally Ranked Foe

Aaron Meltzer led NYU to a win in the #3 singles match.
The New York University men's tennis team fell 6-3 in a road contest against #22 ranked Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, on Saturday, March 2.

NYU (1-2) dug itself into an early hole by getting swept in all three doubles contests. While the Violets were able to split with the Thoroughbreds (3-0) in the singles matches, it wasn't enough to come away with the victory.

Aaron Meltzer, CJ Leong and Sidd Thangirala all contributed singles victories for the Violets. Thangirala needed two tiebreaks, but won in the #6 singles match 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6).

Highlights

- Meltzer picked up the first NYU win in the #3 singles match 6-2, 6-4.

- Leong earned a win in the #4 singles match, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

“This was a tough loss to a Top 25 team,” said Head Coach Horace Choy. “You just can't fall behind like we did to a top team. The doubles matches were really the difference.”

NYU will return to the court on Sunday, March 24, for a 12:00pm match against The College of New Jersey. This contest will be the Violets' first home match, which will be played at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
