New York University's men's swimming & diving team fell to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) in a dual meet on Saturday, November 16, at the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) in Manhattan. The final score was 168-128.
Junior
Jerry Crowley, recently named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week, won the 50-yard freestyle (
21:10), the 100-yard freestyle (46.33) and the 100-yard butterfly (50.62). He also participated on the second-place 200-yard medley relay team (1:37.53) alongside freshman Ethan Louie, junior
Matt Kendall and freshman
Jason Bo.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Junior diver
Brian Blum won the one-meter with a NCAA qualifying score of 276.24. This is Blum's first-ever NCAA qualifying score. He also came in second place in the three-meter (280.21).

Scott Donie. "We are in great shape heading into the ECAC's."
- NYU did very well in the 100-yard backstroke. Senior
Charlie Wu came in second (54.13), freshman
Ethan Louie took third (54.48) and freshman
Harrison Clewell finished fourth (55.01).
- Kendall took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.83) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.09).
- The Violets also did wewll in the freestyle events. Freshman
Ryan Yue took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:55.44) and finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:55.72). Freshman
Ben Ching came in third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:24.59). Bo, in addition to the relay, finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.84).
"I was very happy with the team's performance today," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "Coming off a tough two-day meet last weekend and a week of hard practice, I thought we did a great job of getting up and racing. We are ready to swim fast at the ECAC's, and I look forward to seeing us swim again in a few weeks."
The Violets' next competition will be at Lehman College in the Bronx, NY, for the ECAC Championships beginning Friday, December 6, and going until Sunday, December 8.
