Men's Swimming & Diving Suffers a Loss to TCNJ

Blease Continues an Impressive Streak

Blease set an NYU record for the one-meter dive.

The New York University men's swimming & diving team faced a tough opponent and fell to The College of New Jersey 169-109 on Friday, November 17, in Ewing, NJ.

In spite of the loss, there were several noteworthy performances.

Diver Austen Blease continued his outstanding campaign by achieving NCAA qualifying scores and winning both events. He totaled an NYU-record 345.80 points on the one-meter dive and scored 334.85 on the three-meter dive.

Highlights

- Adam Winerip placed second in both the one-meter dive (275.45) and the three-meter dive (280.20).

- Brian Blum attained a personal best score of 252.60 on the one-meter dive.

- "I was extremely happy with the way everyone dove today," said Diving Coach Scott Donie. "We're in great shape going into Thanksgiving break."

- Jerry Crowley was victorious in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 47.65. He also came in second place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.49.

- "Jerry had some very impressive swims today against great competition," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "It was nice to see him rise up to their level, and I think it will help prepare him for the ECAC Championships."

- Charlie Wu placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.65.

The Violets return to the pool for the ECAC Championships on Friday-Sunday, November 30-December 2, at the Nassau County Aquatics Center in Hempstead, NY.
