The New York University men's swimming & diving team emerged victorious over SUNY Cortland (184-110) in its first meet of the 2012-13 season. This marks the third consecutive year in which the Violets have defeated the Red Dragons at their home meet. The competition took place on Saturday, October 20, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.

"I think we swam well," said Head Coach Trevor Miele, "The team is working hard, and it's a great beginning. I'm really looking forward to next week."

The team was led by Jerry Crowley, whose performances demonstrated a continuation of his previous year's hard work. Crowley came out on top in the 100-yard freestyle (47.41), the 100-yard butterfly (52.07), and was a contributor to NYU's victorious 200-yard medley relay team (1:39.66).

Highlights

- Diver Austen Blease followed up an impressive first year as a Violet, winning both the one- and three-meter dives with NCAA qualifying scores of 318.90 and 336.01, respectively.
