With a three-game winning streak to their credit, the New York University men's basketball team will look to repeat last weekend's success against University Athletic Association (UAA) rivals Carnegie Mellon University and Case Western Reserve University this weekend on the road. After starting their trip with an 8 p.m. Friday night tilt against Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, the Violets will trek to Cleveland to face Case Western on Sunday at noon.
Carnegie Mellon will be offering live stats, as well as an internet audio and video broadcasts. Meanwhile, Case Western will provide an audio/video simulcast.
Enjoying the comforts of the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center, NYU (13-5, 4-3 UAA) staved off Carnegie Mellon, 59-57, last Friday before dispatching of Case Western, 78-72, on Sunday. Keith Jensen averaged 22.5 points in the two victories, including a season-high 23 tallies against Case. Richie Polan produced his third double-double of the season, finishing with 13 points and 13 boards last Sunday.
With their wins last weekend, the Violets improved to 33-14 against Carnegie Mellon and 27-9 vs. Case Western. A victory over Carnegie would give NYU its first sweep over the Tartans since 2001-02. Meanwhile, a triumph at Case would give the Violets their sixth straight sweep of the Spartans.
