Men's Swimming & Diving Team Seeking Vengeance This Weekend

Violets Host Division III Power TCNJ

Eric Pcholinski is one of five seniors to be honored on Saturday.

The New York University men's swimming & diving team has two things to prove in this Saturday's meet against The College of New Jersey. First, the Violets (6-3) must build some momentum after beginning the season with a 4-1 dual-meet record, but finishing 2-2 since that strong start. Second, the team will look to avenge its only loss of last season, a 171-123 setback to TCNJ en route to a 7-1-1 dual-meet season.

Saturday is also Family and Senior Day for the men's swimming & diving team. Graduating seniors include Andrew Diaz, Ben Koppel, George Loomis III, Eric Pcholinski, and Mike Traynor.

In order to slip past TCNJ, who will bring a 6-1 record to the Palladium Athletic Facility, NYU head coach Bob Sorensen will look to his "Big Three" of junior captain Andy King and sophomores James Bedell and Bryson Naylor. Bedell had the most success of the three against TCJN last season, swimming the anchor leg for the first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:15.78). Pcholinski, currently a senior, was also on that relay squad as the leadoff swimmer.

NYU is looking to close its dual-meet season with victories against TCNJ on Saturday and then Vassar College on Saturday, Jan. 30. Following those meets, the Violets will have some time to prepare for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

The diving portion of Saturday's competition is slated to start at 12:00 pm, with swimming events to follow at 1:00 pm. Results of the meet will be available on goNYUathletics.com.
