The New York University men's tennis team was unable to rebound after a tough loss on Friday and fell 9-0 to the University of Salisbury on Saturday in Salisbury, MD.
Ranked #13 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region, the Violets drop to 1-5 on the season. Salisbury, ranked #22 nationally, improves to 2-1 in 2009.
“It was a tough weekend, both mentally and physically draining,” admitted head coach Horace Choy.
Junior Eugene Tsarevskiy fought to a three-set loss (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) to Daniel Barnas in the #4 singles match. Tsarevskiy and sophomore Matthew Gross lost 8-3 to Barnas and Andrew Nottage earlier in the #2 doubles match.
NYU returns to the court next weekend in the Middlebury College Invitational where they face Connecticut College on March 13. The following day, March 14, they square off against Middlebury College in the morning before playing Brandeis University in the evening.
