The New York University men's swimming & diving team returns to the pool this weekend to compete at the University of Rochester Invitational along with Case Western Reserve University on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Violets took a split at the season-opening NYU Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 24. The team topped SUNY New Paltz 85-37, but fell to an improved Stevens Institute of Technology squad 77-43.
James Bedell, a sophomore standout from San Jose, CA, led the Violets with three first-place finishes. He topped the field in the 100 freestyle (48.30) and the 100 butterfly (53.41), and also swam the first leg of the victorious 400 freestyle relay (3:14.78).
Junior Max Norris, a Rochester, NY, native, will return to his hometown as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Diver of the Week for Oct. 26. He posted a score of 301.50 in the three-meter dive, surpassing an NCAA Division III qualifying standard.
