Kenneth Bigley was hired as an assistant coach of the New York University wrestling team prior to the 2019-20 season. He is mainly responsible for working with the upper weight classes and helping to run practices.
In his first season at NYU, the team won its 12th University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, finished third at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships, placed second at the Citrus Invitational, won three matches at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) National Dual Meet Championships, posted a 12-7 record, and finished the campaign ranked #11 in the nation by the NWCA. Four NYU wrestlers earned All-America honors: seniors Evan Drill (149), Sean Lyons (157) and Jack La Corte (197), and sophomore Izaake Zuckerman (174).
Individually, Lyons captured the NCAA Northeast Region 157-pound title and earned UAA Most Outstanding Wrestler and Wrestler of the Year honors. Seven wrestlers earned NCAA Northeast All-Region honors and six received UAA All-Association accolades.
A 1999 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, Bigley earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in environmental planning with a minor in ethics, graduating magna cum laude. He went on to graduate school at Ohio University and earned a Masters of Sports Administration and Facility Management in 2001.
Bigley has accumulated extensive coaching and administrative experience. While at Ohio, he served as an assistant coach of the wrestling program from 1999-2001. Bigley then held the same position at Princeton University for a year before moving to Brown University, working with their wrestling program from 2002-05.
In 2005, Bigley was hired as the Director of Athletics at Trevor Day School in New York City, where he held the position until 2011. He went on to serve as Director of Athletics at Souhegan High School in Amherst, NH, working there until 2012.
Since returning to New York City in 2012, Bigley held positions as Programming Director at Beat the Streets and as PSAL Sports Coordinator through September 2019. He still maintains the position with the PSAL.
Bigley, who has served as a wrestling committee member at the New York Athletic Club since 2005, is a native of Sugar Camp, WI, and resides in Island Park, NY.
