Michael Schamis

Michael Schamis is in his second season as an assistant with the New York University women’s volleyball program. His main responsibilities with the team consist of statistical operations and analysis.

A 2009 graduate of NYU’s College of Arts and Science with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics, Schamis began working with the Violets’ women’s volleyball in 2006 as an undergraduate employee of the Sports Information Office. He handled publicity and statistical operations at each match, performing the same duties with the NYU men’s volleyball team from 2007-09.

Schamis, who currently attends Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business, is pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration degree in sport and entertainment management.

Schamis’ reputation as a statistical guru has earned him freelance work from the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP), as well as from several schools in the metropolitan area.

A certified scuba diving instructor since 2005, Schamis is a native of Chicago and resident of Roosevelt Island in Manhattan.
