Former Violet Jess Storer is in her second season as an assistant coach with the New York University women’s volleyball program.
In her first season coaching with the Violets, Storer helped a young squad that returned only one starter reach the finals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro/Upstate Championship. Overall, NYU went 22-17 and 3-7 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while capturing the title of its season-opening Labor Day Invitational. The trip to the ECAC’s extended the Violets’ streak of consecutive postseason appearances to 10.
A May 2011 graduate of NYU, Storer spent three seasons as a player for the Violets after transferring from Division I Providence College. She appeared in 68 matches for NYU at outside hitter, finishing sixth on the team in digs in 2008 and 2009, as well as sixth in kills in 2008. During the 2009 season, Storer served as a team captain.
A double major in communicative sciences and disorders and Spanish, Storer was a model student in her time at NYU, earning University Athletic Association (UAA) Fall Sport All-Academic honors twice and being named to the Intercollegiate Athletics Advisory Committee Fall Honor Roll in 2009. She also earned the NYU Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award, which is given to student-athletes who graduate with a grade-point average of 3.5 or better and compete for at least two years on an intercollegiate team.
Storer is currently a candidate for a Master of Science degree in communicative sciences and disorders at NYU.
A native of Wantagh, NY, Storer resides in Manhattan.
