Kim Walter has completed one season as an assistant coach of the New York University women's soccer team. She came to NYU after spending the previous year in Bangkok, Thailand, as an English teacher.
During her first year as an assistant coach, the Violets finished the season with an overall record of 12-5-4. The Violets won their first-ever University Athletic Association Championship and secured their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
A four-year player for Loyola (MD) College, Walter graduated in 2001 with a bachelor of art degree in psychology. A Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Tournament and All-Academic Team member, as well as a two-year MAAC Senior Honor Roll selection, Walter currently holds two of Loyola’s individual records. In 1999, she set one-season records for the lowest goals against average (0.39) and highest save percentage (.909).
Aside from her collegiate experience, Walter has competed for the Long Island Lady Riders (1998-99), the HOTA Bavarian Soccer Club (1992-96), and was an active member of the ENYYSA Olympic Development Program (1992-96). She has also collected valuable coaching experience as a Long Island Junior Soccer League Camp Coach.
“Kim has been a terrific addition to our staff,” NYU head coach Jon Clement said. “She has brought a wealth of valuable goalkeeping experience both as a player and as a coach.”
Walter is a native and resident of Farmingville, NY.
