    Women's Soccer Assistant Coach
Amy Johnson is in her second season as an assistant coach for the New York University women’s soccer team. She serves primarily as the program’s recruiting coordinator and goalkeeper coach.
 
Last season, NYU went 11-6-2 overall, 3-2-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002.
 
During the season, the Violets rose as high as #23 in the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America)/Continental Tire Division III Rankings on October 14. The campaign also included a seven-game winning streak and a victory over then-#5 Washington University on November 2.   
 
Under Johnson’s tutelage, sophomore goalkeeper Cassie Steinberg, who posted a 0.87 goals-against average, eight shutouts and .776 save percentage, earned Honorable Mention All-UAA accolades. For their efforts all season long, Johnson, Head Coach Michele Canning and all of the NYU assistants were selected UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Prior to joining the NYU staff, Johnson served as a volunteer goalkeeper coach at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY, during the 2012 season. She also spent time in Colorado Springs, CO, serving as the competitive division soccer coach/assistant goalkeeper coach for U12 girls of the Rush Pikes Peak Soccer Club in 2011.
 
Johnson has also worked with several collegiate athletic camps, including the United States Air Force Academy, Columbia University and Rutgers University.
 
A 2009 graduate of Division I Long Island University-Brooklyn with a Bachelor of Science degree in sports sciences, Johnson helped lead the Blackbirds to two Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament appearances and was a two-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
During her time as an undergraduate, Johnson served as a goalkeeper coach with the Brooklyn Patriots youth soccer club. Prior to her time at LIU, Johnson served as the goalkeeper coach at Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, MO, in 2007.
 
Johnson also spent the 2004-05 seasons as a member of the William Jewell College women’s soccer team in Liberty, MO, and helped the Cardinals to two NAIA National Tournament appearances.
 
Johnson returned to her alma mater and earned a Master of Science degree in health sciences in 2013.
 
A native of Maryland Heights, MO, Johnson resides in Brooklyn.
