Stephanie Marciano is in her first season as an assistant women’s basketball coach at New York University. She is involved with recruiting, scouting and skill development.

Marciano comes to NYU following one season as an assistant at Bucknell University. She helped lead the Bison to a third-place finish in the Patriot League and assisted in the development of two All-League players as well as the Rookie of the Year. In addition to her on-court efforts, Marciano undertook game analysis, monitored player academic performance and coordinated team community service projects.

A 2008 Yale University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, Marciano left a lasting impression on the Bulldog basketball program, ranking fifth in career assists and seventh in career three-point field goals. She also served as captain and was selected Academic All-Ivy as a senior.

Marciano’s leadership in community service began during her four years at Yale, where she served on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) “Think Pink” initiative committee, mentored local elementary school girls in Yale’s Female Athlete Mentorship Program and coached at Bulldog Basketball Camp and Community Outreach Clinics.

After her coaching success at Bucknell, Marciano returned to the game as a professional basketball player with the BC Wolfenbüttel Wildcats in Germany’s first division. While in Germany, she contributed (mainly as a starter) to the Wildcats’ eighth-place league finish, averaging 3.2 rebounds per game and shooting 88.9% from the free-throw line.

“Stephanie brings such a broad range of strengths to our program,” said NYU head coach Stefano Trompeo. “She played at an institution (Yale) that’s similar to us academically, and she competed at a high level. She has Division I coaching experience, while her playing experience overseas gives her a wider perspective on the game and on talent evaluation. I’m really excited about having found a candidate with such a strong resume.”

A native of Edison, NJ, Marciano resides in Hoboken, NJ.
