Jenna McLaughlin is in her second season as an assistant coach with the New York University women’s basketball team. Her primary responsibilities include equipment and film management, game scheduling and guard development. She also assists in the team’s recruiting and scouting efforts.

In 2012-13, her first season with the Violets, McLaughlin helped lead a young squad to a 10-15 overall record, including a 3-11 mark in the extremely competitive University Athletic Association (UAA). A high point in the campaign came late in the season when NYU completed a weekend sweep of UAA rivals Washington University and the University of Chicago. At the time, Washington was ranked #13 in the nation.

The season also included a number of individual honors. Megan Dawe had one of the best freshman seasons in team history and became the first Violet ever to be named UAA Rookie of the Year. In addition, she earned Second Team All-UAA and was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Rookie of the Year. Another freshman, Riley Wurtz, was named Honorable Mention All-UAA.

McLaughlin came to NYU from NCAA Division I Sacred Heart University, where she spent two seasons as an assistant coach and was involved in all aspects of the program. During her two seasons there, the Pioneers compiled a 43-20 overall record, including a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2012.

While at Sacred Heart, McLaughlin worked with Violets’ Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory.

Prior to beginning her coaching career at Sacred Heart, McLaughlin played for Molloy College from 2007-10. A shooting guard for the Lions, she was part of two Division II NCAA Tournament teams. In 2008, her junior year, the team captured the East Coast Conference Championship and earned a NCAA bid for the first time in the history of the program. As a graduate student in 2010, McLaughlin served as team captain. She led the Lions to a program-record 22 wins, another East Coast Conference title and a second NCAA Tournament appearance.

A native of Carle Place, NY, McLaughlin resides in Manhattan.
