Ophir Sadeh

  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Ophir Sadeh joined the New York University softball team as an assistant coach prior to the 2019 season. His responsibilities include working with the pitching staff, while also assisting with recruiting, scouting reports, infielders, and practice/game preparations.

The 2020 season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic after the Violets had compiled a 3-5 record, including a 4-0 shutout of Rutgers-Newark University on March 10 in the final game of the season. Despite the abbreviated campaign, several players received accolades. Seniors Morgan Clemens (outfield) and Caroline Saccacio (catcher), as well as sophomores Rachel Colbus (infield), Kalena Paredes (infield) and Maggie Swan (pitcher) earned All-UAA (University Athletic Association) honors. In addition, a total of 11 players were selected UAA Spring Sport All-Academic.

In his inaugural season at NYU, Sadeh helped lead the Violets to a 20-13 mark and a best-ever 8-9 finish in UAA play, which included two victories over eventual NCAA Division III Championship runner-up, Emory University.

Many players were recognized for their outstanding contributions in 2019. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) bestowed Second Team All-Northeast honors to Diana King as well as Third Team accolades to Ashley Mains and Serena Ponciano. Mains, Ponciano and Swan also received Second Team All-UAA honors. Swan, who was also named Honorable Mention All-ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference), recorded the second-lowest season ERA (1.93) in team history and the third-most strikeouts (57).

Prior to joining NYU, Sadeh coached at Adelphi University from 2013-18. He began as an assistant in 2013 and was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2016 season. In his time there, Sadeh helped lead the Panthers to two Women’s College World Series appearances (2015, 2016).

From 2002-09 Sadeh was a volunteer assistant at Hofstra University under Hall of Fame coach Bill Edwards and current University of Missouri head coach Larissa Anderson. Sadeh also currently is a fixture at many collegiate camps such as Elite Collegiate Skills and RiseBall Camps and Clinics.

Sadeh, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Hofstra in 2004 and a Master of Arts in liberal studies from Stony Brook University in 2006, is a native of Haifa, Israel, and resides in Kings Park, NY.
