Jordy F. Paulemon joined New York University as an assistant coach of the New York University men’s and women’s track & field teams prior to the 2018-19 season. His primary responsibility is working with the program’s throwers.
In 2019-20, Owen Mountford was Paulemon’s top performer on the men’s team. The sophomore earned a bronze medal with his third-place performance in the shot put at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships (the outdoor season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic). On the women’s side, senior Helen Joyner posted a season-best 14.4m weight throw at the Armory Last Chance Invitational and recorded a season-best third-place finish in the event at the Ramapo Invitational.
In his inaugural season with the Violets, Paulemon helped coach Carter Beardsley to
Second Team All-UAA honors in the weight throw and Third Team All-UAA accolades in the shot put, as well as Third Team honors in the shot put outdoors. On the women’s team, Alaris Dayzie earned UAA Winter and Spring Sport All-Academic honors.
Prior to coming to NYU, Paulemon worked as an assistant coach at Hunter College in Manhattan during the 2018 season. He also served stints as an assistant coach at Monroe College in New Rochelle, NY (2016-17), and at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY (2015-16).
A 2012 graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, Paulemon was a three-year member of the Wildcats’ football team, including the squad that reached the NCAA FCS National Semifinals in 2010.
Paulemon, who went on to earn a Masters of Education from Hofstra University in 2014, currently competes for USA Track & Field (USATF) in both the shot put and discus. He won the shot put event at both the 2016 and 2017 USATF Connecticut Club Indoor Championships, as well as the discus throw at the New York State Club Championships in 2015.
A native of Brentwood, NY, Paulemon resides in West Orange, NJ.
