Beau Whitman joined New York University as an assistant coach of the men’s and women's track & field teams prior to the 2016-17 season. His primary responsibility consists of working with the teams’ pole vaulters.
During the 2018-19 season, Whitman helped guide freshman pole vaulter Juan Ochoa to a sixth-place finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships and to a ninth-place showing in the event outdoors. On the women’s team, junior vaulter Alaris Dayzie earned UAA Winter and Spring Sport All-Academic honors as well as the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
In 2017-18, Whitman helped guide pole vaulter Sherman King to a fourth-place finish at the NYU Division III Invitational and a fifth-place performance at the UAA Indoor Championships. On the women’s team, Erini Farid posted a career-best pole vault of 3.04m and placed second at the NYU Division III Invitational.
In Whitman’s initial season at NYU, Dana Placentra tied NYU’s indoor pole vault record while King took third at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Outdoor Championships.
A 2016 graduate of Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in product design, Whitman was a four-year member of the Mountain Hawks' track & field team, competing primarily in the pole vault. While with the team, Whitman also helped coach his teammates on weight lifting and power lifting techniques.
Whitman earned Academic Honor Roll accolades from 2012-14.
From 2014-16, Whitman served as a pole vaulting coach at Germantown Academy (PA) and Team VA. He also currently coaches at Solace New York.
A native of North Wales, PA, Whitman resides in Manhattan.
