Jason Sacks has completed one season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at New York University. Sacks helped lead the Violets to a 16-10 overall record in 2004-05, including a 6-8 mark in the University Athletic Association, and a berth in the ECAC Metro Championship Tournament.
Prior to joining NYU’s staff, Sacks served as a varsity assistant coach at Egg Harbor Township High School in New Jersey. He has been involved in the basketball program at the school since 1995, as both a player and as an assistant coach. During that span, Sacks’ teams qualified for the state tournament eight times.
Sacks’ coaching career also includes a stint at the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camp as an instructor.
Currently pursuing a master’s degree in sports management from NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Sacks also works as a graduate student assistant in NYU’s Sports Information Office.
A 2003 graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in broadcast journalism, Sacks spent his four years there involved in sports media, serving as a radio reporter and play-by-play voice for the basketball, football and lacrosse teams. He was courtside when the Orange won the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship in 2003.
A native of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Sacks currently resides in Manhattan.
