The NYU Karate Club teaches JKA Style Shotokan Karate to both new students and those of all martial arts backgrounds. The club is structured like a traditional dojo. Each practice consists of some combination of Kihon (Fundamentals), Kata (Forms), and Kumite (Sparring). Students advance in rank through belt tests held at the end of every semester. The club is overseen by head coach William Huang, faculty advisor Allen Mincer, and assistant coaches Joey Santore and Sara Fernandes.
New students are especially welcome! Come join us to get in shape, meet new people and make friends!
