The New York University women's golf team finished second out of 18 teams at the Tartan Invitational on Tuesday, September 29, at Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, PA.

NYU completed the 54-hole tournament with a 10-under-par score of 854, besting the previous team record achieved last May by 25 strokes. The Violets entered the final round at 572 (-4) before closing with a six-under-par 282 to secure the runner-up finish.

Emory won the team title eight strokes ahead of NYU. Carnegie Mellon finished third at 867, 13 strokes behind the Violets.

Inha Jun led NYU individually, finishing third in the 98-player field with a three-round score of 209 (-7). Jun set the program record for lowest individual 54-hole tournament score, beating the previous record set by Naomi Tan last March by eight strokes.

Sonia Hao, competing as an individual, finished fifth at 211 (-5). Hao's tournament was highlighted by a five-under-par 67 in the second round.

Jiarui Li finished seventh at 213 (-3), giving NYU three golfers among the top seven individual finishers.

Hao and Li now sit second and third, respectively, on the list of lowest 54-hole tournament scores in school history, only behind Jun.

"We had a bunch of incredible firsts!" exclaimed Head Coach Brad Johnson.

Elisa Xue placed 14th at 218 (+2), while Jiayi Fu and Tan tied for 17th at 219 (+3).

"A lot to be proud of. This is a great sign of what this team is capable of," continued Johnson.

The Violets will take a couple weeks off before traveling to California for the Hollins Cup on October 12.
