On Saturday, September 12, the New York University women's tennis team returned to the Vassar Scramble with competition against players from Hamilton College, SUNY New Paltz, Vassar College, and Connecticut College. The non-team-scoring event took place in Poughkeepsie, NY. 

"We played an outstanding day of tennis, dominating the majority of the matches and battling through the heat," explained Assistant Coach Ron Moreno.  "Four matches in one day, in 80-degree heat, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., is a true test of both physical endurance and mental toughness. But throughout it all, our energy never wavered"

The Violets ended the morning victorious with a complete clean sweep across both singles and doubles against SUNY New Paltz. Zeynep Polat, Emma Kast, Noelle Faber, Sara Gao, and Diana Pujals all sailed to 6-0 wins in single-set matches against the Hawks.

The No. 1 doubles pair Victoria Wang and Kast sealed victories for two out of their three matches against Hamilton (6-4) and New Paltz (6-1). At No. 2, Katelyn Ho and Polat won their matches against the Continentals and the Hawks. 

In singles play, Sophia Wright cruised to the win against all four teams in single-set matches. Meanwhile, Wang and Faber each sealed victories in three matches. 

"I'd like to congratulate our freshman Ashley Petrauskas, Zeynep Polat, Katelyn Ho, and Diane Durante on their first wins with NYU," Moreno added. 

The Violets will complete play at the Vassar Scramble on Sunday, September 13, at 9:30 AM in Poughkeepsie, NY.
