The New York University women's tennis team opened its 2026-27 season with competition at the Vassar Scramble.
The three-day event began on Friday, September 11, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
In the no-team-scoring competition, the Violets faced players from Connecticut College and triumphed in seven of the eight singles and all of the doubles matches.
NYU dominated the doubles play against the Camels. At No. 1,
Victoria Wang and
Emma Kast claimed a quick 6-3 victory.
Katelyn Ho and
Zeynep Polat secured a 6-4 win at No. 2. The No. 3 and No. 4 pairs,
Norah Staunton and
Sophia Wright (6-2) and
Sophia Yang and
Ashley Petrauskas (6-4), both won in single-set matches.
In singles play against Connecticut, Wang (6-2), Polat (6-1), Ho (6-2), Kast (6-1), Wright (6-2), Yang (6-3), and
Noelle Faber (6-2), also won for the Violets in a series of single-set matches.
The Vassar Scramble continues on Saturday.
