Members of the New York University men's and women's track and field teams were in action on Thursday evening in the teams' first of three "last chance" meets of the outdoor season. These meets serve as the final opportunities for individuals to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, held May 21-23 in La Crosse, WI.
Two Violets headed up the Hudson River to compete at the West Point Twilight Meet, hosted by Army West Point.
Rina Kurihara placed second overall in the women's 800m final, clocking in at 2:14.27.
In the men's 1500m final,
Huckleberry Oakes took tenth overall in 3:49.35. As of Thursday evening, that time is the 16th-best finish across Division III in the outdoor season. The 22 best times qualify in each event for the National Championships.
The weekend continues for the Violets at the Farley Inter Regional (F.I.R.E.) Meet, hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, MA, May 8-9.
