The Violets trailed for most of the game, scoring their first run in the eighth, but fought back, eventually tying the score in the ninth before losing in a thriller.

Eastern Connecticut State, barely holding on to the 1-0 lead, faced bases loaded in the top of the eighth. NYU capitalized on a passed ball to even the score and keep the defensive battle alive. The Warriors came back in the bottom half of the frame with a run as the pressure was flipped back onto NYU.
Blueweiss opened the ninth with a single, and later in the inning found himself on third with just one out.

Eastern Connecticut then used an opening ninth-inning single of their own, as the runner eventually came around to score the game's winning run.
