The New York University baseball team (7-11, 2-6) was defeated 11-1 by Washington University in St. Louis (21-6, 5-3) on Sunday, April 5, in St. Louis, MO, to close out the four-game weekend series.
The Bears came into the day having won two of the first three games of the series, and began game four by scoring three runs in the first inning.
Trailing 3-0, NYU got a lead-off triple by
Aidan Howladar in the top of the third and managed to get on the board with a wild pitch in the next at-bat.
Tyler Tedeschi came in to take over on the mound in the bottom of the first and had a solid performance, holding WashU scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when the Bears plated two.
The Bears tacked on a total of six runs in the next two innings to enforce the run-rule and close the series.
Notable Stats:
- CJ Franchini, NYU's batting average leader, extended his hit streak to seven games
- NYU came into the game second in the UAA in batting average (.314), only trailing WashU (.318)
