Baseball Drops Series Finale Against Emory University

Violets Lose First UAA Series of the Season

The New York University baseball team (6-8, 1-3) ended its four-game University Athletic Association (UAA) series against Emory University (14-9, 3-1) with a 16-11 loss on Sunday, March 29, in Teaneck, NJ.

In the top of the second inning, Emory loaded the bases with one out before bringing home six runs, including a grand slam.

The Violets cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Mason Clark

However, the Eagles extended their lead back to six in the third with a three-run home run.

NYU returned the favor in its half of the inning with a two-run homer coming from Max Oliveira.

Kosta Mocklis started the bottom of the sixth by hitting a solo shot to cut Emory's advantage to just 9-6. Later in the inning Dominic Holton hit a two run home run to bring the Violets within one. Clark then followed the two homers with one of his own to close out a four run inning which tied the game.

Emory quickly responded, regaining the lead with a three run sixth inning.

Trailing 15-9 in the bottom half of the eighth, NYU scored two runs, but as Emory scored a run in the ninth, the Eagles closed out the games scoring and left New Jersey with the series win.
