The New York University softball team closed out its weekend University Athletic Association (UAA) series with the Brandeis University Judges on Saturday, March 28.
Brandeis scored the first five runs of the game and held on for an 11-3 win in five innings.
The Judges used a pair of extra-base hits in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead in their first at-bats, tacking on one run in the second inning for a 5-0 advantage.
Sarah Huang opened the scoring for the Violets in the bottom of the fourth inning, driving a ball to deep right field that scored
Naya Schubel and
Katie Antosiewicz, cutting the Brandeis advantage to 11-2.
Brandeis' Jordan Wallace added to their lead in the top of the fifth inning with a three-run home run to left field. and they led 11-2 headed into the bottom of the fifth.
Emily Barbire drove in a run in the bottom of the fifth, but the Violets could not cut into the Judges lead any further, falling 11-3.
NYU hits the road in the first weekend of April for a three-game series against Washington University in St. Louis.
