The New York University softball team played two final games on its Florida trip on Friday, March 20, in Clermont, FL.
After a 4-2 loss to Ramapo College, the Violets fell 7-3 to William Paterson University to end the day.
In the afternoon's first game, The Roadrunners got out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning and later added another run in the third.
Ramapo then brought home two more insurance runs in the top of the sixth to grow its lead to 4-0.
NYU began to rally in the bottom of the frame, however, by loading the bases with one out.
Sarah Huang took advantage with a two-run double to cut the deficit in half. The Violets were unable to add on, though, stranding the tying run at second base.
The following inning, NYU once again had runners on second and third with one out. Neither player were able to score as the Roadrunners closed out the win.
Against the Pioneers, the Violets fell behind 4-0 after the first inning.
William Paterson added on two more runs in the bottom of the third before NYU cut the deficit in half in the fourth inning.
With the bases loaded, Huang brought in
Emily Barbire on an RBI single and was followed by a sacrifice fly and a bases loaded walk to make it 6-3.
The Pioneers closed out the scoring with a seventh run in the bottom of the fifth as the Violets were unable to close the gap.
Huang finished the day with three hits and three RBI across both contests.
The Violets will next take on the Stevens Institute of Technology in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 25, in Hoboken, NJ.
