The New York University softball team played a doubleheader against the Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday, March 25, in Hoboken, NJ.
The visiting Violets dropped the first game 4-2 and the second 9-2.
NYU fell behind 2-0 in the opener, but tied the game on
Sarah Huang's two-RBI single in the top of the third inning.
However, the Ducks struck back for two runs in the bottom of the fourth and the score remained 4-2 the rest of the way.
Huang accounted for two of the Violets' three hits, with
Keira D'Errico producing the other.
Monique Kamrowski pitched four innings of relief and suffered the loss.
In the second game, NYU took an early lead with a run in the top of the first.
Naya Schubel's single was surrounded by walks from
Emma Sung and
Victoria Negron before
Emily Barbire knocked Sung in on a fielder's choice.
Stevens then scored two in the second and four in the third to take control of the contest.
Schubel knocked in NYU's final run in the sixth inning with a two-out single.
Katie Antosiewicz started for the Violets and took the loss.
The Violets open University Athletic Association (UAA) play when they host Brandeis University for a three-game series this weekend. The teams open with a doubleheader beginning at 5:30pm on Friday, March 27, at Bahoshey Field in the Bronx, NY.
