The New York University softball team played two more contests at THE Spring Games on Thursday, March 19, in Winter Haven, FL.
The Violets opened the day with a 10-0 win over Hartwick College before falling to the University of Wisconsin - River Falls 10-0 to close out the afternoon.
NYU picked up where it left off the previous day with a run-rule victory against the Hawks. After the first run of the game came home on an error in the top of the first, the Violets loaded the bases in the third with nobody out.
Emily Barbire then brought in a run on a walk and was followed by a two-run double off of the bat of
Naya Schubel.
Katie Antosiewicz knocked in a fifth run on a sacrifice fly.
The following inning, NYU once again loaded the bases with nobody out, after which an error, a walk, and a single up the middle increased the score to 8-0.
Both Barbire and Schubel collected an RBI single in the top of the fifth to close out the scoring.
For a second straight day,
Olyvia Rutter pitched two shutout innings in relief to pick up a win.
In game two, the Falcons scored two runs in the first inning and did not look back.
The Violets had a runner in scoring position on three occasions, but could not convert.
UW - River Falls added on to its advantage with eight runs in the final two innings to register the run-rule victory.
Schubel totaled four hits and four RBI across both games.
The Violets are set to play two final tilts at THE Spring Games against Ramapo College and William Paterson University tomorrow at 1:30pm and 3:45pm, respectively.
