The New York University women's tennis team continued its 2026 spring campaign with a 6–1 victory over Union College on Sunday, February 22, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY.
NYU swept the doubles matches.
The No. 1 duo of Sophia Yang and Visnja Gusavac and the No. 2 pair of Emma Kast and Victoria Wang each won by a score of 6–2, while Norah Staunton and Siona Vallabhaneni added a 6–3 win at No. 3.
In singles, the Violets won five of six matches.
At No. 1, Wang added a point to the team score with a 7–5, 6–3 win. Gusavac earned a 6–1, 6–0 victory at No. 2, and at No. 3, Yang dominated her match, earning a 6–0, 6–0 win. Vallabhaneni contributed a 6–2, 6–1 victory at No. 4, while Noelle Faber added a 6–2, 6–1 victory at No. 6.
"It was another strong effort across the board," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "We got off to a strong start in doubles and kept the pressure up. Next week will be a step up in competition, so this was a good building block."
The Violets return to action on Friday, February 27, when they take on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.
