NYU Women’s Tennis Continues Strong Spring Start

Strong Doubles Play and Dominant Singles Performances Lead NYU to Another Win

The New York University women's tennis team continued its 2026 spring campaign with a 6–1 victory over Union College on Sunday, February 22, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY.

NYU swept the doubles matches.

The No. 1 duo of Sophia Yang and Visnja Gusavac and the No. 2 pair of Emma Kast and Victoria Wang each won by a score of 6–2, while Norah Staunton and Siona Vallabhaneni added a 6–3 win at No. 3.

In singles, the Violets won five of six matches.

At No. 1, Wang added a point to the team score with a 7–5, 6–3 win. Gusavac earned a 6–1, 6–0 victory at No. 2, and at No. 3, Yang dominated her match, earning a 6–0, 6–0 win. Vallabhaneni contributed a 6–2, 6–1 victory at No. 4, while Noelle Faber added a 6–2, 6–1 victory at No. 6.

"It was another strong effort across the board," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "We got off to a strong start in doubles and kept the pressure up. Next week will be a step up in competition, so this was a good building block."

The Violets return to action on Friday, February 27, when they take on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA.
