The New York University women's tennis team completed competition against players from Haverford College and host The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) at the TCNJ Lions Kickoff on Sunday, September 14, in Ewing, NJ.
The two-day no-team-scoring event included both singles matches and double matches.
The Violets walked away victorious in five of the singles and three of the doubles matches on Sunday.
Victoria Wang (6-2, 6-0), Aditi Narayan (6-2, 7-5), Siona Vallabhaneni (8-3), Noelle Faber (8-1), and Sara Gao (8-7, 12-10 tiebreaker) were singles winners for NYU.
The tandems of Vera Bondarenko/Emma Kast (8-2), Gao/Sophia Yang (8-1), and Vallabhaneni/Norah Staunton (8-5) won their doubles matches for the Violets.
"I thought there was some good play from everyone this weekend," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "To be expected for the first weekend, the play was a little streaky. Our job leading into ITA's is to be more consistent. The effort was consistent and the shots will come."
The Violets return to the court for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championships beginning on Friday, September 26, in Saratoga Springs, NY.
