The New York University men's tennis team earned a commanding 7–0 victory over the University of Rochester on Sunday, April 13, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY. The win came on Senior Day and marked a strong finish to the regular season for the Violets.
NYU jumped out to a fast start in doubles, winning all three matches to secure the opening point. Philip Martin and Boren Zheng rolled to a 6–2 win at No. 1, followed by identical 6–2 victories from Louis Frowein and Jingyuan Chen at No. 2. Alex Lee and Bryan Hui won 6-4 at No. 3 to secure the doubles point.
The Violets continued their dominance in singles play. Zheng earned a 6–3, 7–5 win at No. 1 singles, while Martin didn't drop a game in the second set en route to a 6–3, 6–0 victory at No. 2.
Chen and Hui each took care of business at No. 3 and No. 4, winning 6–4, 6–0 and 6–3, 6–2 respectively. Frowein cruised to a 6–1, 6–0 win on court five, and Ryan Shayani capped off the sweep with a 6–2, 6–1 result at No. 6.
NYU will return to action on Wednesday, April 16, when they travel to Bayonne, NJ, to face Stevens at 3:30pm.
