The New York University men's tennis team delivered a strong performance in their match against RIT at the Stadium Tennis Center in Bronx, NY, securing a 6-1 victory on Saturday March 8, 2025.
The Violets set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches.
Philip Martin and
Boren Zheng earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1, while
Bryan Hui and
Jingyuan Chen dominated at No. 2 with a 6-1 win.
Zachary Freier and
Alex Lee closed out doubles play with an impressive 6-4 win at No. 3, securing the doubles point for NYU.
In singles play, Zheng fought hard at No. 1 and won 6-4, 6-3 over Yu Tanimoto. Chen competed at No. 2 and defeated Grahith Movva 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 3, Hui battled against Alex Turcotte, ultimately winning 6-0, 6-3.
NYU found success in the latter singles match-ups.
Cooper Kline posted a strong performance at No. 5, edging out Alexander Sinclair 7-5. At No. 6,
Shrey Arora posted a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Luke Weber.
"The team earned this hard-fought win, securing the doubles point and producing strong singles performances," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "With momentum building, we look ahead to key regional match-ups."
The Violets return to the Stadium Club tomorrow for a match with Hobart College at 1:00pm.
