The New York University women's tennis team earned a commanding 7-0 victory over Ithaca College on Sunday, March 30, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY.
The Violets upped their record to 6-3 this season.
In doubles play, NYU secured victories at #2 and #3. Emma Kast and Jimena Menendez dominated their match, winning 6-0, while Hannah Chang and Norah Staunton followed with a solid 6-2 win.
Isabella Hartman and Victoria Wang were narrowly defeated 6-3 in the #1 doubles match, but the Violets clinched the doubles point with their strong performances at the other positions.
In singles, the Violets swept all six matches. Jimena Menendez dominated at #1 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory, while Isabella Hartman secured a 6-2, 6-3 win at #2. Victoria Wang cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at #3. Aditi Narayan triumphed 6-4, 6-1 at #4, and Norah Staunton followed with a strong 6-2, 6-1 performance at #5.
Siona Vallabhaneni capped the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at #6.
"Ithaca showed a lot of grit, but we were stronger throughout the lineup," said Head Coach Horace Choy. "Jimena continued her strong play this year and led the way at first singles. We received strong performances from all the women and look to continue that in our next few matches."
Looking ahead, the Violets will face Williams College on Saturday, April 5, at 10:00am in Williamstown, MA.
