The New York University men's tennis team extended its impressive winning streak to eight matches with a 5-2 victory over Ithaca College on Sunday, March 30, at the Stadium Tennis Center in Bronx, NY.
The Violets' strong performance pushed their overall record to 8-1 for the season."
"Extending our winning streak is great, but we have bigger goals," said Head Coach Horace Choy.
In doubles, NYU won all three matches. Philip Martin and Boren Zheng led the way with a 6-4 win at #1, while Bryan Hui and Jingyuan Chen secured a 6-4 victory at #2. Alex Lee and Louis Frowein dominated at #3, winning 6-1.
In singles, Zheng claimed a 6-2, 6-4 win at #1, followed by Martin who battled and triumphed 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at #2. Chen won 6-2, 6-2 at #3, and Frowein secured a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4.
"We started slowly, but bounced back to win the doubles point and cruised to victory," Choy added. "We need to stay focused and locked in from the start, with three more matches before the UAA Championships.
Looking ahead, the Violets will face Stevens on Saturday, April 5, at 11:00am in Hoboken, NJ.
