The New York University men's basketball team returned to action for the middle leg of its three-game December home stand on Saturday, December 13, hosting the Lancaster Bible College Chargers for the first time in program history.
The Violets improved to 8-1 on the season with a 95-83 victory over the Chargers.
"Offensively, we did a really good job of sharing the ball, making the right play for most of the game," said Head Coach Waleed Farid.
"Defensively, we got the stops when we needed to, but we still have a lot of room for growth in making sure that a team doesn't keep getting a renewed life throughout the game."
NYU controlled the game from the tip, starting with Bryan Moussako's three-pointer to start the scoring. The Violets jumped out to a 14-4 lead nearly six minutes into the game.
After a brief 6-0 run by the Chargers, NYU jumped to their largest lead of 19 points, 45-26, with just over two minutes left in the half.
NYU led 49-37 at halftime, with Moussako leading all NYU scorers with 10 points, followed by Darren Rubin's nine points.
Lancaster Bible came out of the locker room in rhythm, cutting the NYU lead to just eight points. That margin would be the closest the Chargers got in the second half
Moussako led the way for NYU, scoring 22 points - including a season-high six three-pointers. Luke Kolaja added 18 points and a season-high eight rebounds. Rubin finished the game with 18 points and Carnegie Johnson stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, six rebounds and five assists.
The Violets close out the 2025 calendar year on Tuesday, December 30, hosting John Jay College at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
