The New York University women's basketball team went to 2-0 on the young season after defeating Regis College 114-35 on Saturday, November 8, at the Brandeis Invitational in Waltham, MA.
The Violets had defeated Swarthmore College 108-49 on Friday night, the most points ever scored by NYU in a season opener.
NYU's march to their 64th consecutive victory began right after tip-off, as the Violets scored the first five points of the game and never trailed.
The preseason #1-ranked Violets led 33-10 after the first quarter, and held Regis to only four points in the second quarter as they took a 62-14 lead into halftime.
The advantage extended to 85-28 after three quarters.
The final 79-point margin is tied for the fourth-largest in program history.
The two-time defending NCAA Division III Champions were led by
Caroline Peper, who scored 21 points, 18 in the first half when she shot 6-of-9 from three-point range. Peper also totaled a team-high four assists in her 21 minutes.
Brooke Batchelor was the team's second-highest scorer with 17 points. She and
Aizlyn Albanese led the way with seven rebounds each.
Also scoring in double figures for the Violets were
Josie Munson (11),
Olivia Lagao (11), and
Zahra Alexander (10).
All 15 players who saw action scored at least two points.
The Violets return to the court for their home opener next Sunday, November 16, when they host New Jersey City University at 2:00pm at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
