Victoria Wang Finishes Play at ITA Cup

NYU Sophomore Forced to Retire Due to Injury

Victoria Wang of the New York University women's tennis team finished play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup on Saturday, October 18.

The event is being held in Rome, GA.

After opening the competition with a singles loss on Thursday and a victory on Friday, Wang faced Eleanor Archer of Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday. However, Wang had to pull out in the first set due to an injury.

Wang was down 5-0 in the first set, but could no longer continue.  She finishes the ITA Cup tied for 11th place.

"I know Vic is disappointed to have ended the fall this way, but it didn't make sense to risk injuring things further," Head Coach Horace Choy explained. "She's had a good fall and this should not take away from that. She is a two-time qualifier for the ITA Cup her first two years, which is not easy to do. The focus now is to get healthy and be ready for the spring season."

The ITA's marked the end of the Violets' fall schedule. The squad will return to action when the Violets host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for a match on Sunday, February 21, 2026, in Bronx, NY.
