The New York University women's swimming team beat Division II West Chester University 179-64 on Saturday, January 25, to close out its dual meet season.
The Violets are ranked #5, and Saturday's win brings their record to 5-1.
"The women were absolutely dominant from start to finish today," said Head Swimming Coach
Trevor Miele. "Beating one of the top Division II teams in the country is a testament to their hard work and talent."
Kaley McIntyre won her three events, including the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 400-yard freestyle relay.
"(McIntyre) was phenomenal as always, taking the 50 and 100 free with commanding performances," said Miele.
The winning 400-yard freestyle relay team consisted of McIntyre, Sarah Pierson, Isabel Oldham, and Elle Motekaitis.
Pierson also had a strong performance in the 100-yard backstroke winning the event with a time of 58:27.
"Anna Li's 200-yard breaststroke in her final dual meet was a special moment, as was Elle's impressive swim in the 500-yard freestyle," said Miele.
Issara Schmidt and Maya Williams took home first and second in the 1-meter and 3-meter events. Schmidt won the 1-meter, while Williams won the 3-meter.
"Issara continues her comeback with an awesome 1-meter, " said Diving Coach
Todd Kolean. "Maya probably had her best 3-meter event of her career and probably one of the hardest diving lists in the nation".
The Violets will return to the pool for the UAA Championships in Atlanta, GA, February 12-15.
"Closing out the dual meet season like this is fantastic," said Miele. "The women set the tone early and never let up, I'm so proud of the way they compete and support each other."
