The New York University women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout in its scrimmage against SUNY Oneonta on Saturday, April 20, at the Stadium Tennis Center in the Bronx, NY.
The Violets dominated in their doubles matches as
Isabella Hartman and
Dakota Fordham dropped a winning score of 8-4 in their #1 matchup.
Jimena Menendez and
Aditi Narayan added another win as they secured an 8-1 victory in their #2 match. At #3,
Hannah Chang and partner
Tess Heber celebrated with a similar 8-1 win.
The Violets remained flawless in the singles matches with Menendez emerging victorious 6-1, 6-1 in her #1 bout. Fordham also triumphed 6-1, 6-1 in her #2 while Hartman bested her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at #3.
Ksenia Goel double-bageled her #4 opponent, while
Glenda Boeker and
Diana Pujals each won at #5 and #6, respectively, by similar 8-1 scores.
The Violets celebrated Senior Day on Saturday and honoring their lone senior, Fordham.
"Senior Days are a nice way to celebrate everything that a player has done for the program and Dakota will be missed," said Head Coach
Horace Choy.
The Violets will return to the courts on Friday, April 26, when they begin competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships in Altamonte Springs, FL.
