The New York University softball team dropped both its University Athletic Association (UAA) games to Emory University on Saturday, April 20, in Atlanta, GA.
The Violets (6-24, 1-15) were defeated by scores of 8-0 and 2-1.
The Eagles are now 23-13, 9-7.
NYU was held to two hits by Emory's Mackenzie Duford in the opener.
Margaux Lesser and
Claire Carson were the lone Violets to hit safely.
Monique Kamrowski went 4.2 innings for NYU and took the loss.
In the nitecap, the Violets finally got on the board.
Emma Aridi led off the game with a double, was sacrificed to second and came home on Lindsay Baron's sacrifice fly.
The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the frame, and the score remained 1-1 until Ella Hoyle's single drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth.
Lizzie Smith had a one-out single in the top of the seventh, but was erased on
Madi Hand's game-ending double play.
Karleigh Kluever pitched well for the Violets, going the distance but suffering the hard-luck loss.
Smith had two hits in the game.
The Violets are back in action next weekend when they host their final UAA series of the season. NYU takes on Brandeis University beginning on Friday, April 26, at 2:00pm at the College if Staten Island.
