The New York University women's tennis team defeated The College of New Jersey 6-3 on Saturday, March 23, in Ewing, NJ.
In the doubles matches,
Isabella Hartman and
Dakota Fordham were the only Violets to secure a win, an 8-6 victory at first doubles. However, things would turn around in the singles matches.
Jimena Menendez triumphed in her #1 singles match-up 6-3, 6-1, while Fordham and Hartman each continued to win. Fordham had a competitive match at #2 singles but prevailed
with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 score and Hartman logged a 6-2, 6-3 victory at #3.
Ksenia Goel won her #4 singles match, besting her opponent 6-1, 6-4, and
Kendall Kamerschen came out on top at #6 singles, 8-2. Although
Hannah Chang lost at #5 it was a close match as she was edged 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
"I like our team, I don't have to reinvent the wheel with this team. Like I said, we got a lot of upperclassmen leadership and the freshmen who are in the lineup have stepped in seamlessly
and they're contributing," said Head Coach
Horace Choy.
The Violets return to the courts on Saturday, April 6, to face Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
