A ninth-inning run was the difference as the New York University baseball team fell to Ramapo College 5-4 on Wednesday, March 20, in Auburndale, FL.
The Violets (11-3) had fallen behind 4-2, but rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Dakota Barbet started the inning with a single.
Nick Argenziano was hit by a pitch, and with two outs,
Nate Pallotta smacked a double to tie the game.
Neither team scored again until the ninth, when Ramapo's lead-off batter reached on an error, went to second on a wild pitch, to third on a single, and scored on a sacrifice fly.
The Violets were retired 1-2-3 in the bottom of the ninth.
NYU out-hit the Roadrunners (7-4) 11-9, with
Richard Beggy accounting for three. Beggy and Argenziano had the other RBI's for the Violets.
Paul Guerne started for the Violets and went the first four innings.
Tyler Tedeschi relieved and threw three shutout innings, striking out four.
Ansel Balmer was the hard-luck loser, striking out two and allowing the final unearned run.
The Violets are right back on the diamond tomorrow when they host Elmhurst University at 3:00pm in Tampa, FL>
