Baseball Posts Comeback Win Over Elmhurst

Violets Boost Record to 12-3

The New York University baseball team overcame a 4-0 deficit and went on to beat Elmhurst University 10-6 on Thursday, March 21, in Tampa, FL.

Playing at the New York Yankees minor league complex, the Violets (12-3) began their comeback in the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored their first run on Max Oliveira's double.

Elmhurst (4-11) gained back the run in the top of the sixth, but NYU tied it with four runs in the bottom of the frame all on bases-loaded walks.

Then, in the next inning, the Violets plated another four to take the lead for good. Cam Dunn's two-run single put NYU in front and Connor Roggero's double accounted for the final run of the inning.

Each team scored another run in the eighth inning as NYU held on for the victory.

Alex VanLandingham led the Violets with three of their 10 hits. He also walked twice. Dunn had three RBI's and Roggero knocked in two.

Starter Mason Morello raised his record to 5-0, going six innings. He allowed four earned runs and struck out seven.

Dylan Branca pitched the final frame and got all three outs via strikeout.

The Violets will travel to Auburndale, FL, on Thursday for a 2:30pm game against Maritime College.
