This one was over early.
The New York University baseball team scored six runs in the first inning and 10 in the second en route to a 20-6 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday, March 17, in Bradenton, FL.
The Violets (11-2) wasted no time displaying their potent offense. The first-inning outburst included a three-run home run from
Nate Pallotta and a two-run blast from
Max Oliveira.
The onslaught continue with a double-digit output in the second. The frame featured a grand slam by
Nick Argenziano, a two-run single by
Richard Beggy, a solo home run off the bat of
Cam Dunn, and another RBI for Pallotta.
NYU scored two more in the third inning curtesy of RBI's from
Harrison Blueweiss and Argenziano.
RBI's from Beggy and Pallotta capped the scoring in the bottom of the sixth.
Argenziano and Pallotta each finished with five RBI's, while Beggy had three. Argenziano and Dunn each scored four runs.
Jason Pearson picked up the win with one inning of relief, striking out two and walking two without allowing a hit or run. He followed starter
Andrew Reid who went four innings and struck out six.
Jack Wilkin and
Zack Cetin also pitched an inning out of the pen in the seven-inning affair.
The Violets are back in action on Wednesday, March 20, at 1:00pm when they face Ramapo College in Auburndale, FL.
