Women's Squash Finishes Second in Nation

The NYU Women's Squash Team finished the 2023-2024 season as National Runners-Up at the 2024 National Collegiate Co-Ed & Women's Championships.

The National event for the top Squash teams in the country in its traditional location of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 16-18, saw the Violets enter as the top seed in the country after boasting an 8-1 record (63-19 in individual games). After a first round bye, NYU defeated the University of North Carolina, 9-0 in the second round; Washington University of St. Louis, 6-3 in the semi-finals, before dropping the championship round to Boston College, 8-1.

NYU was represented in the women's tournament for the first time in almost a decade. The team, captained by Maxine von der Heyden, saw Grace Huang playing in the No. 1 spot, where she delivered dominant performances in all three rounds, winning 3-0, 3-1, and 3-0 in the finals.

The men's team shared in the success with a fifth place finish.

Ranked #17 in the country, NYU finished with an overall 7-5 record (62-47 in individual games).

"All in all was a great weekend, and very commendable for the Women's Team that participated for the first time finishing 2nd" noted NYU Men's and Women's Squash Coach, Sat Seshadri.

Both teams move toward the Spring off-season with goals of building upon their success with recruiting for the 2024-2025 season.
